The music for the Lutetium Project (opening titles, end titles and video series « Experiments in music ») was composed by the students of Marie-Jeanne Serero, who teaches the Musique pour l’image course at Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris.
Our theme song
The musical identity of the Lutetium Project is based on a melody featured in the opening titles (lasting eight seconds) and in the end titles (lasting twenty seconds) for our videos. The original composition by Pierre David was selected among the submissions of three students from Conservatoire de Paris. It then went to recording sessions by the Orchestre des Lauréats du Conservatoire. The final result can be seen and heard here!
The video series « Experiments in music »
Our video series titled « Experiments in music » associates a research experiment from ESPCI Paris to an original composition by Julien Mazet, a fifth-year student at Conservatoire de Paris, specialized in musicology with a focus on analysis and aesthetics. The videos are entirely made of movies of experiments. The science is explained by means of captions. In this unprecedented project, the music mirrors the physics, as it reproduces rythms or concepts directly originating from the research experiment.
